New work by Tim Lane - 'Revelations' at Knifesmith Gallery

Detail from Jekyll & Hyde (2010) by Tim Lane

New originals further explore Tim's interest in themes from classical mythology and classic literature. Images explore the existence or non-existence of salvation after death and the afterlife and the destructive forces of human hubris and the corruption of power. The title of the show plays on the biblical reference with its apocalyptic visions and moral punishments and also on the realisations of human weaknesses with the unfolding stories of corruption of figures of power in our society. www.knifesmithgallery.co.uk

from 'Wurstfinger'

Illustration

Tim is a trained illustrator with a first class degree from Falmouth College of Arts in Cornwall. He has however, since leaving college, found that his work has been more successful in the fine art market, where greater creative freedom and the opportunity for self expression can be found. He is however open to interesting illustration projects.

Wurstfinger

'Wurstfinger' is a series of narrative, sequential images that form a wordless book that Tim created for a competition at the Bologna Children's Book Festival, Italy (2004)

'The idea i came up with was to have a character called 'Wurstfinger' (Sausage fingers) who dreams of being a musician in an orchestra, but he is hindered every time he tries any of the different instruments by his huge hands... until one night he has a dream which at first he didn't understand, but it shows him what he should of been all along- the conductor of the orchestra! Then with his huge expressive hands he gets the orchestra to play the best they have ever played before, and thousands of people come from miles around to see him perform.'

All images are drawn in pencil, then colourized digitally, the original drawings are on A3 sized paper. Prints available
